I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and always been creative. My mom and my grandmother were also artists, so it is in my blood. My mother was such an inspiration to me as I was growing up because she was always drawing or doing pen and ink, plus she was creative in so many ways. I was obsessed with drawing as a kid and learned to paint later on. But I knew I always wanted to be an artist.

When I got old enough to work, I became a technical illustrator for several companies doing work in the airline and military aircraft industries. Although not exactly the art career I was looking for I was at least drawing. Later I made my way as a graphic artist for a medical college, eventually becoming a freelance designer, which I still do.

I always worked on my own personal art in the evenings and on the weekends even while working. I’ve worked in a lot of different mediums from photography, pottery, quilting, acrylics, mixed media, pencil, pen and ink, sculpture – and I’m probably not done exploring. My current work is collage and encaustic. I love working in these two mediums and how the encaustic wax increases the translucency of the papers and adds warmth and dreaminess to my collages. My goal is to create visual poetry through this medium.
